Social Detox'
Even now, it is hard for me to accept when people, driven by their own insecurities and inability to accept others, are trying to project their own beliefs onto others. What does modern society want to make us think? What! If one is different from others, should they be ostracized from modern society? Exiled? Emotionally killed? Left alone to live in this world?
It’s absurd!
To often I hear people say, at someone’s expense, even mine, that those who suffer or have suffered from the so-called burn out syndrome are ‘broken souls’ – ‘social waist’. Ha! Yes, many of us serve others with their peculiar and heterogeneous nobility, criticism, perceptions and bitter-sweet values and standards.
We should not forget that we are all one – we are equal. Each and every one of us has the freedom and the right to design their life as they see fit.
It is surprising how those of us who, for example, raise their children out of wedlock, deny religion and/or folk traditions are considered as heroes of modern times as they stand for their values and so on, yet in contrast the LGBT community and/or those with psychological disorders are considered rotten. Remember the case of Mihail Stoyanov, who was killed, a few years ago, because he was considered “gay” by people who pronounced themselves as “cleaners of modern society” from homosexuals!
Being different is a gift. A true privilege. Being mentally exhausted is not an illness as far as everyone should be concerned. It does not define us! It teaches us more about the human spirit, strength, and ability to change for our personal and common good.
Carl Jung said it well: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.” I would add: “Do not believe everything your mind is telling you!”
